DAY PREP – 08/03/17

2nd Chance Transition Corporation is having a huge yard sale today through Saturday at 290 Locust Street in Twin.  Their goal is to raise $2,000 to buy a new washer and dryer and update some of the furniture at the home.  There's free hot dogs from Falls Brand from noon 'til 3 for paying customers, plus raffle and door prizes for various food gift cards from local food places throughout the entire event. You do not need to be present to win.  That's today through Saturday at 2nd Chance Transition Corporation on Locust in Twin, 7 'til 5 each day.

Friends of the Sticks & Stones Mill in Shoshone have organized a fun event for everybody who would like to come out and support the mill which lost pretty much everything in the Lagoon Fire last month.  This Saturday, join Shoshone for “Out Of The Ashes”  - it’s a bonfire and BBQ with live music from 4 ‘til 10.  The event will be held at 65 Hwy 75 in Shoshone, and all proceeds benefit Sticks & Stones Mill.  In total, the mill lost over a million dollars in supplies and property and it’s times like these we can all come together as a community and help our fellow neighbors out in a time of crisis.  That’s this Saturday from 4 ‘til 10 at 65 Hwy 75 in Shoshone – and it’s fun for the entire family so bring the kids too!

The sixth annual Magic Valley Beer Festival, hosted by Blue Lakes Rotary, will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. this Saturday at Twin Falls City Park.  The event features live music from Famous Undercover, Dirty Johnny, and the Barking Owls. Food will be available for purchase, with more than 100 craft beers on hand to sample.  Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 the day of event. For more info visit MagicValleyBeerFestival.com.

HOLLYWOOD

The HBO hack sounds like it's worse than the production company originally thought.  A security company hired by HBO to scrub search results for the hacked files from search engines has told Google that the hackers stole “thousands of HBO internal company documents.”  The disclosure came as part of a DMCA take-down notice sent to Google Tuesday to force the search engine to take down links to the leaked files.  Word of HBO getting hacked first broke Monday morning, when the hackers approached media outlets with the news that they had broken into HBO’s networks and released episodes of “Ballers,” “Insecure,” and “Room 104” as well as the script for an upcoming episode of “Game of Thrones.”  In addition to all of the other documents, images and footage noted to Google by the security firm, two episodes of “Barry,” the hit man comedy starring Bill Hader that isn't scheduled to air until 2018 on the network, have also found their way onto the net.

Yesterday, I shared with you a kinda-sorta indication that "Big Bang Theory" will end with season 12 - and now there's confirmation that ANOTHER super-popular show is coming to an end.  ABC announced yesterday that the upcoming ninth season of family comedy The Middle will be its last.  The Middle joins Scandal as ABC long-running shows ending during the 2017-18 season.

And this one, not from Hollywood, but certainly serving a purpose to end today's Hollywood Headlines on a high note - 50 year old Emily Pomeranz was in hospice in Virginia with pancreatic cancer when her high school friend and fellow Cleveland Heights, Ohio, transplant Sam Klein visited and asked if she needed anything.  “I wish I could have one more Tommy’s mocha milkshake,” Emily told Sam, referring to a delicious frozen treat from an iconic restaurant back home. So, Sam contacted the owner of Tommy's (yes, his name is Tommy) and told him the story.  And to make a long story short, lots of dry ice, a frozen mocha milkshake, a $123 UPS overnight bill and nearly 400 miles later, Emily had her milkshake. Her wide smile and the milkshake has gone viral on Facebook with over 1200 shares and counting.
