THURSDAY’S QUESTION OF THE DAY

Question of the Day:  Tipping.  It's a debate my wife and I have all of the time.  She thinks we should tip EVERYBODY... and I tend to get a little stingy on tips.  I mean, if we're out to dinner and the waiter or waitress brings us our food, refills drinks and makes sure everybody's taken care of, OF COURSE I'll tip.  But there's SOME situations we find ourselves in that I think would NOT warrant a tip, but she insists on tipping each and ever time.   So... here's a few scenarios.  In each, would you tip?

  1. A) When you order take-out and go pick it up. The person working the counter hands you your food and runs your card. Do you tip?
  2. B) The maid who cleans up your hotel room. Do you tip?
  3. C) After leaving the table at a self-serve buffet. Do you tip?
  4. D) The wedding DJ who plays your request. Do you tip?

In all four scenarios, my answer is YES - but that's only because my wife insists on it.  How about you? (Broc)

HOLLYWOOD

As Harvey Weinstein’s life continues to crumble AS IT should, there’s more drama surrounding the movie mogul – now, with his wife of eight years Georgina Chapman announcing that she’s LEAVING him and says her heart breaks for all the women who have suffered.  There are plans for Weinstein to enter a treatment facility — but Weinstein, who has been staying at a Los Angeles hotel, has allegedly not left yet.  Yesterday, Weinstein added criminal defense attorney Blair Berk to his legal team.  Berk’s client list includes Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Kiefer Sutherland, and Kanye West.  As the story continues to unfold, Weinstein may face a slew of charges – many of which I’ll spare you in this story so you don’t have to explain what they mean to your kids.  In short, they could end up sending him away for a long time.  Weinstein isn't the only one who might face criminal charges in this ordeal, though.  The Weinstein Company could find itself in the legal hot seat for the culture of complicity — with numerous people throughout the companies fully aware of his behavior but either abetting it or looking the other way.

The first lawsuit has been filed in the aftermath of the mass shooting at the Route 91 Music Festival in Vegas.  Paige Gasper, a 21-year-old from California, has filed suit in Clark County, Nevada against the Stephen Paddock Estate, and also MGM Resorts and Live Nation.  In the documents she says the venue and promoter are just as responsible as gunman Stephen Paddock because they failed to properly protect concertgoers from mortal danger.  Gasper says she was struck by a bullet that entered her right underarm, cut across her right breast, shattered her ribs and lacerated her liver before exiting her body. She says the bullet incapacitated her, and fleeing concertgoers ended up trampling her, which she partly blames on Live Nation for having an inadequate exit plan.  Neither MGM nor Live Nation have yet to comment on the suit.

Kate Middleton made her first public appearance since announcing her third pregnancy yesterday. The Duchess of Cambridge attended a reception at Buckingham Palace in honor of World Mental Health Day along with Prince William and Prince Harry.  Kate has stayed out of the public eye since August as she suffers from a disorder that I can't pronounce, but know that it means a severe form of morning sickness, that has caused her to miss events, including her son Prince George's first day of school.  She's less than 12 weeks pregnant, but in the pictures from yesterday, a cute and tiny baby bump could be spotted.
