Man Killed in Semi-Truck Collision
A 37-year-old Jerome man died following a collision between a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle yesterday morning just after 10 a.m. Police report the accident occurred on U.S. 30 and East 5400 in Twin Falls County. Authorities state that a 68-year-old Gooding man was driving the semi-truck when the passenger vehicle failed to yield, resulting in the death of the GMC Sierra’s driver.

Idaho Gas Prices Match National Average
Idaho gas prices have finally aligned with the national average. According to AAA, both Idaho and the U.S. averages are currently $3.05 for a gallon of regular gasoline. The Gem State has dropped to 18th in the nation for the most expensive fuel after weeks in the top ten. Currently, 31 states have average gas prices below $3 per gallon.

Idaho State Christmas Tree Lighting Tonight
The Idaho State Christmas Tree will be lit for the first time this season tonight at 6 p.m. The public is invited to the Capitol steps for the ceremony, which will feature remarks by the governor and performances by a children’s choir.

Idaho Troopers Deployed to Texas
Idaho State Police troopers are being deployed for the fourth time to Texas to assist with border patrol efforts. While in Texas, the troopers will help local officials intercept drug traffickers and human traffickers.

Highway 93 Construction Nears Completion
The signs of construction along Highway 93 between Jerome and Twin Falls are finally coming down. After nearly six years of continuous construction to widen the highway to four lanes, road signs are expected to be removed by the weekend. Next on the agenda is installing traffic lights at the Highway 93 and 25 junction, a site of many fatal accidents over the years.

Federal Court Upholds Idaho Abortion Law
A panel of federal judges upheld Idaho’s abortion trafficking law yesterday. The law penalizes adults who assist minors in seeking abortions out of state. Idaho maintains a near-total ban on abortions at any stage of pregnancy, with exceptions for rape and incest.

Former CSI Student President Pleads Guilty
Former College of Southern Idaho student body president Dylan Ray, 20, has pleaded guilty to charges of possessing child exploitation materials. Of the 15 felony charges against him, 10 were dropped as part of a plea deal. Ray could face up to 15 years in prison and a fine.

Boise State Men’s Basketball
Boise State men’s basketball returns to ExtraMile Arena on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to face Utah Tech after competing in the Cayman Islands Classic. This marks the first-ever matchup between the Broncos and the Trailblazers.

Boise State Football Championship Game
In a clash of Mountain West preseason favorites, No. 11/10 Boise State will host No. 22/19 UNLV in the 2024 Old Trapper Mountain West Football Championship. The game will take place at Albertsons Stadium on Friday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. Boise State aims for its second consecutive Mountain West title.

Idaho State Volleyball in NIVC Tournament
The Idaho State Bengals volleyball team will participate in the 2024 NIVC Tournament. The Bengals travel to Laramie, Wyoming, to play host Wyoming Cowgirls in the first round on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. The four-team bracket also includes Washington State and Utah Valley University. Winners from the first round will play Friday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.

Pomerelle Ski Resort Opens
Recent snowstorms have brought 14 to 20 inches of snow to the area, allowing Pomerelle Ski Resort to open for the season this week.
