High-Speed Chase Leads to Arrests
Two individuals were arrested last night after attempting to evade authorities. According to police reports, the incident began shortly after 7 p.m. when a trooper attempted a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle traveling west on I-84 in Ada County. Speeds reached approximately 115 miles per hour. Near Middleton, a passenger exited the vehicle and was promptly arrested. Authorities deployed stop sticks, leading to the arrest of the 39-year-old female driver from Salmon. Both individuals face drug possession charges.
Nampa Crash Victim Identified
Authorities have identified the individual who died in a dramatic accident on Sunday when a car went airborne and landed on a home in Nampa. Thirty-one-year-old Jose Teran Chaparro was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were transported to the hospital for treatment. The home sustained extensive damage, while a neighboring home’s chimney was partially destroyed. Additionally, a damaged power line caused an outage in the area.
School Policies Adapt to New Law
School districts in southern Idaho are revising policies regarding students’ names and pronouns. Under a new law, government agencies, including schools, are prohibited from compelling employees to use pronouns that do not correspond to an individual’s biological sex. Employees must address students by their legal names or derivatives thereof. Twin Falls School District Superintendent Brady Dickinson emphasized that state law overrides any district policies.
Holiday Lights Brighten Twin Falls
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Twin Falls. For the third consecutive year, the Casperson Family light display is illuminating First Federal Park. This handmade quarter-mile display, created by longtime resident Max Casperson, begins nightly at 6 p.m.
CSI Lights Up the Season
The College of Southern Idaho kicked off the holiday season by lighting its campus display last night. The CSI Madrigal Ensemble performed holiday classics to the delight of a large crowd comprising students, faculty, and families.

Boise State Basketball Victory
Alvaro Cardenas tied his career-high in assists, and Tyson Degenhart delivered a flawless shooting performance to score 21 points as Boise State secured its sixth win of the season. The Broncos defeated Utah Tech 87-64 last night at ExtraMile Arena, marking their 16th consecutive nonconference home win.
CSI’s Ashley Garner Honored
Ashley Garner, a standout 6’2″ freshman, was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week in women’s college basketball. Garner’s impressive performances included leading the fourth-ranked Golden Eagles to a 74-44 victory over Northeastern Junior College and a 91-59 win against Columbia State CC. This week, CSI travels to Gillette, Wyoming, to face Casper College and No. 20 North Dakota State College of Science.
