Police in Twin Falls along with members of the swat team converged on a neighborhood yesterday morning after authorities confirmed a man was brandishing a gun. Later shots were fired inside the home. The neighborhood around the 200 block of Polk Street was secured as police surrounded the home. No officer fired his weapon and there were no injuries reported.
Two winning tickets worth $1 million each in the Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle were sold in Ada and Cassia counties. The winning numbers are 063647 and 116293. Two $10,000 winning tickets were also sold in the same counties, with numbers 139464 and 287203. Winners have 180 days to claim their prizes at Idaho Lottery headquarters in Boise. No winners have come forward.
Idaho State Police is investigating a single vehicle injury crash that occurred on Tuesday evening just after 8 on eastbound 2900 in Gooding County. An 18-year-old male from Kimberly was driving eastbound. The driver appears to have driven off the roadway where the vehicle rolled. The driver was uninjured. The 21-year-old-male passenger from Kimberly was transported by air ambulance to a nearby hospital. Two other 18 year old females were taken by ambulance for medical treatment.
A Twin Falls business owner has been charged with grand theft after not paying a former employee’s garnished wages to Child Support Services. 61-year-old Brian Wade Conger owner of Magic Valley Appliance and Repair, was charged after the woman showed police her pay stubs and letters from the agency showing her garnished wages hadn’t been paid. Police said the woman was out about $6,000.
Following what happened in New Orleans yesterday, some police departments in Idaho are increasing patrols. In Caldwell, authorities will be increasing patrols in key areas where large gatherings occur such as churches.
Construction at the road leading to Shoshone Falls has closed off the popular attraction since the end of October and it won’t reopen up until late spring. The entire road leading to Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake is being replaced.

Boise State’s historic season came to an end following a 31-14 loss to Penn State in the 2024 Vrbo Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium, Tuesday night. The Broncos outgained the Nittany Lions in the loss, recording 412 total yards to Penn State’s 387. Boise State held the advantage in the passing game, 304-171, while the Nittany Lions outrushed the Broncos, 216-108.
Boise State women’s basketball utilized a stout defensive effort to open the new year with a 66-55 victory over Air Force Wednesday night in ExtraMile Arena. Boise State will remain on its home court, hosting UNLV on Saturday, Jan. 4. The game will be the second game of a Bronco basketball doubleheader following the men’s team’s contest against San Diego State at 2 p.m. MT. The women’s game will tip off at 6 p.m
The Idaho lady basketball team opens Big Sky Conference play in a matchup of the two teams with the best non-conference win percentage of any conference teams. The Idaho Vandals and Montana State university Bobcats are two of the best defensive teams in the league and have proved it through the non-conference. Montana State is allowing just 54.8 points per game while Idaho is allowing just 56.3, Idaho ranks in the entire NCAA for field goal percentage defense. Game time is tonight at 7.
On the hardwood tonight locally for high school games, for the boys, Kimberly will participate in the east Idaho holiday Shootout in Bonneville playing Layton Christian Academy. Teton and Wood River will also participate along with Burley playing Skyline.
For the girls, Jerome takes on Columbia in the TimberLion Tournament at Borah. Also, in that tournament, Burley plays Ridgevue along with Twin Falls and Borah, Minico will play Timberline of Boise.
