Fires & Emergencies
The Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office is expected to be on scene today after fire crews quickly contained an RV fire at Bish’s RV in Jerome yesterday afternoon. The blaze spread to two other units, sending smoke visible from downtown Jerome. No injuries were reported.
A Nampa man is jailed on a $1 million bond after a violent attack and house fire Monday left one person seriously injured. Steven Delisle Jr. faces attempted murder and arson charges.
Crashes & Police Incidents
Idaho State Police are investigating a serious crash between a pickup and a freight train in Lincoln County. A 74-year-old Dietrich man was airlifted to the hospital after his truck was hit and rolled. The crash happened last night.
A 17-year-old autistic boy remains in critical condition this morning after Pocatello Police shot him nine times during a domestic call. Victor Perez is in a coma at Portneuf Medical Center. A vigil is planned for Saturday at 6 p.m., and a petition is calling for a full investigation.

Idaho lawmakers wrapped the 2025 session touting over $400 million in tax cuts, but they allowed the Idaho Child Tax Credit to expire. Critics say the move leaves many families—especially renters—without real relief, despite cuts to income and property taxes.
Just an hour after the Idaho Legislature passed the Medical Freedom Act Friday, Governor Brad Little signed it into law. The new mandate ban, taking effect July 1, blocks most vaccine or treatment requirements—but still allows schools to send home sick kids.
President Trump has nominated Bart Davis to return as U.S. Attorney for Idaho. Davis, who served in the role from 2017 to 2021, now awaits Senate confirmation for a new four-year term.

Sports
The Burley Bobcats kicked off Great Basin Conference softball play with a doubleheader sweep of Wood River Tuesday, winning 7–5 and 15–12. Ady Olmos struck out 16 in game one, while Taylin Beck had five stolen bases. Aaliyah Olmos had three hits in game two, as Burley outslugged the Wolverines 16–14. Wood River’s Makinzie Nelson hit home runs in both games.
Buhl swept Mountain Home in interclass play, winning 16–2 and 7–3. Adalyn Pearson struck out 10 in the opener, while Meghan Blacker fanned 11 in game two. Kimberly rolled past Declo 6–1, with Mallory Kelsey going 4-for-4 and Addi Cann driving in four runs.
Filer split a twin bill with Spring Creek out of Nevada, falling 12–2 in game one but bouncing back with a 6–5 walk-off win in game two, thanks to a clutch double from Kyra Eskelsen.
On the local baseball diamonds, in 4A action, the Kimberly Bulldogs topped Gooding 6–2. Colton Sabin led the way at the plate with two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Gunner Stringham, MaCraye Bruning, and Ethan Dempsey each added RBIs, with Stringham also doubling. Ethan Maikranz earned the win, going five and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Tayden Stringham came in to close it out and picked up the save. Evan Mendoza had two hits for Gooding.
Over in Filer, the Wildcats shut out Buhl 2–0. Hyde Bangerter’s walk in the second got the scoring started, followed by a Brett Paxton RBI groundout in the third. Paxton also had two hits and threw a complete-game one-hitter, striking out six. Buhl’s only hit came from Blayden Lowry. On the mound, Porter Higley had a strong outing despite the loss, striking out 11 and walking three.
In 3A play, Firth edged Wendell 7–6 in a thriller. Down two in the seventh, Firth rallied with three runs to steal the win. Deegan Prince had a big day for Wendell with three hits, while Gunner Jones drove in two.
A big opportunity is coming to Twin Falls—Riot Xtreme Cheer hosts its first-ever Junior Olympic team tryouts this Saturday at 302 3rd Ave South. Athletes ages 7 to 18 can compete as cheerleading joins the Junior Olympics for the first time.
CSI’s Emerson Fuller was named Scenic West Pitcher of the Week after leading the Golden Eagles to a 6–1 win over North Idaho. She gave up just one run over seven innings. CSI hosts Salt Lake CC this weekend in a key conference matchup.
CSI’s Lexi Crowley was named Scenic West Player of the Week after hitting .571 with a homer and two doubles in a series win over North Idaho.
Idaho State softball crushed Utah State 13–2 yesterday behind Riley Wickum’s complete game and Ava Brown’s monster day at the plate. The Bengals pounded out 18 hits and now head to Weber State this weekend for a key rivalry series.
