๐Ÿšจ This morning, reports confirm a possible fatal crash on I-84 eastbound near Idahome Road. The accident was reported just before 4 a.m.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Firefighters have fully contained the 40-acre Red Cabin Fire, which broke out Friday evening about 10 miles south of Oakley. Officials now expect the fire to be fully controlled by 8 p.m. tonight.

๐ŸŒพ Firefighters are close to containing the Split Top Fire, which has burned over 5,400 acres of grass and brush west of Aberdeen. Itโ€™s 80% contained.

๐Ÿ“š Idaho is investing $5 million in phonics-based training for Kโ€“3 teachers and principals to boost early literacy. The funding builds on the Idaho Reading Indicator, which tracks where young students struggle and improve, helping close reading gaps statewide.

๐ŸšŒ The Jerome School District reopens today after canceling classes late last week over transportation safety concerns. Officials say new measures, including updated routes, prepared drivers, and AirTags for students, are in place.

๐Ÿšง Northbound lanes on Blue Lakes Boulevard near Kimberly Road are closed today for a water line project. Traffic is being detoured, with normal flow expected by 4 p.m.

๐ŸŽจ Graffiti with hate symbols and slurs was found at the Buhl Skate Park Friday night. Police are investigating and ask anyone with information to call them.

๐Ÿซ Boise State University faces a $4 million budget cut this year and is preparing for deeper reductions in 2027. Interim CFO Stacy Pearson says the school is modeling cuts of 2, 4, and 6 percent as Idaho confronts its most severe budget crunch in five years.

๐Ÿฅฉ After nearly 25 years, the Outback Steakhouse in Twin Falls has closed its doors. Management says landlord talks led to the shutdown, with no word yet on a replacement.

๐Ÿ› Governor Brad Little will host his next Capital for a Day event in Oakley on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oakley City Office and Senior Center.

๐Ÿ† High school football is back, with nine Magic Valley teams in action over the weekend. In 5A, Emmett topped Canyon Ridge 30โ€“18, while Minico rolled past Skyview 37โ€“13. In 4A, Kimberly kicks off against Fruitland at 7, and Filer shut out Wendell 61โ€“0. In 3A, Declo beat Teton 32โ€“12. And in 2A, Grace overpowered Oakley 52โ€“6. Most other teams begin play next week.

๐Ÿป The Twin Falls Bruins fell just short in their season opener, losing 28-27 to Sandpoint after leading 21-7 in the third quarter. Ty Hess, Adam Neil Dewit, and Brogan Bruns found the end zone for Twin Falls. Up next, the Bruins host Vallivue Friday at 7, while Sandpoint travels to face Teton at 5.

โšฝ Over the weekend in soccer โ€” Burley boys edged Century 1-0 with Julian Cardenas scoring the lone goal. The Bobcats host Pocatello today. On the girlsโ€™ side, Century rolled past Burley 6-1, with Emely Magana netting the Bobcatsโ€™ only score.

๐Ÿพ Kimberly and Skyline battled early in a top-five 4A matchup, trading scores in the first quarter. But the Grizzlies pulled away in the second half, piling on touchdowns and sealing a 49โ€“13 win over the Bulldogs.

๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ In a 2A top-five showdown, Hagerman struck back with an 85-yard score from Casen Knight after Logos opened the game. But the Knights dominated from there with big plays on both sides of the ball, rolling past the Pirates 34โ€“8.

๐Ÿค  Local riders of all ages turned out Saturday at the Buhl Rodeo Grounds for a gymkhana event, with more than 15 contestants racing through timed obstacle courses. Organizer Kristy Orr says the goal is to bring families together to enjoy horses and riding.

๐Ÿฆ… The College of Southern Idaho menโ€™s soccer team opened its season with a 3-1 loss to Central Wyoming. Marco Acosta scored the Golden Eaglesโ€™ lone goal, while freshman Robert Foster tallied six saves in net. CSI hosts a two-day home tournament this weekend in Jerome.

๐Ÿ”ท Boise State womenโ€™s soccer earned its first win Sunday, topping Utah Tech 2-1. Asia Lawyer scored in the first half, and Kenzie MacMillan added a penalty kick in the 63rd. Freshman goalie Ava De Leest secured her first collegiate win. The Broncos host Montana Thursday at 7.

โšช Idaho womenโ€™s soccer played to a 0-0 draw with Stonehill Saturday as goalie Paula Flores notched her third shutout of the season with six saves. The Vandals return home Thursday to face Washington State at the Kibbie Dome.

๐Ÿฏ Idaho State womenโ€™s soccer edged CSU Bakersfield 1-0 Sunday at Davis Field. Samantha Fenske scored in the 39th minute, while freshman keeper Hannah Wieler made four savesโ€”including a penalty stopโ€”for her first career shutout. The Bengals are 2-0-1, their best start since 2012.
